January will mark one year since Pastor Evald of Victory Bible Church began working alongside the Lighthouse Children’s Home as part of his pastoral duties.
At the Lighthouse, it is his responsibility to supervise the ongoing operations of the home. He checks in with Mama Odette, visits the school that the children attend, and deals with any behavior issues. He also is in charge of activities, like planning birthday parties, and taking the kids to the doctor as needed.
“I am happy for this work. I love the children,” he said. “Relationships are difficult to form, but I work to grow closer to them so I can help them be successful in life.”
Evald hosts a Bible study at the Lighthouse on Friday afternoons, focusing on how to live together and love one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.

“They hear advice and put it into practice,” he said. “God is doing a good work in them.”
His prayer for each of these teenagers it that they would stay on “God’s good road” because there are a lot of bad roads in Haiti.
He also asks for your prayers for the Lighthouse kids. “Pray for them to keep the faith. To always learn in school. To serve others and themselves.”
Evald says, just like his own children, he wants to see the Lighthouse children evolve to love others and to love God.
Will you pray for his work to bear fruit at the Lighthouse?
