The Lighthouse Legacy fund

What happens when children leave the Lighthouse?

The Lighthouse Legacy Fund helps provide education and living assistance for children and young adults no longer living at the Lighthouse or Beacon* who are still furthering their education.

In 2018, the Lighthouse Legacy Fund will:

  • send three young men to college in Haiti
  • enable one young men to continue in high school
  • support Gervens to continue at a special needs school in Port-au-Prince

The level of support is determined on a person-by-person basis, and beyond tuition and school supplies might include rent and a stipend for living expenses.

Students must maintain a passing grade to maintain their support.

*For several years, JiHM provided a home for young men called the Beacon as they worked to finish high school. While most of these young men have graduated high school and are now living independently, JiHM continues to help a few of them with their continuing education.
