Oh, HI, Oh

Hi from Ohio,

Yes, I am on a little break in the queen city of Cincinnati, Ohio. I am staying with my daughter and family. DeAnna is taking a 10 day, 8 hour per day, nursing course with the promise of being placed in a job if she passes.

Marco is going to college at Cincinnati State and working full time so the only way DeAnna could take this 10 day course was if Grandpa came to baby sit. It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it.

I needed the break; a vacation, a rest. I tend to look at time in 3 month segments while in Haiti. Normally I catagorize a segment as tough or grueling. The last 3 months I would say have been brutal. The day to day life of a missionary in a country that has so many needs, can wear a body down.

So, for the next 10 days I will be baby sitting. Okay, Marco says you can't baby sit your grand kids, you "watch" them. I will be watching my grandkids.

I worked hard for the past couple weeks with Fondi and my staff to get ready to leave. During my absence Fondi and the gang are getting everything ready for our move to the school/church at our property.

This is supposed to be a vacation but while here:

• Will be meeting with our development director making a 3 year plan for our mission and other mission business
• Will be getting caught up on mission work/emails
• I will buy my boys the underwear/socks/school supplies they need for school
• Sharing our work at Sonrise in Fort Wayne this Sunday
• Doing all the normal stuff I can't do in Haiti, haircut, glasses adjusted, medicine refilled, etc...
Getting off the plane and hearing three little ones yell "POPPY" and then have Calvin, Kaylyn and Jayden hit me full blast on a run, was really exciting. Last night as I lay on a mattress next to my bed on the floor, with three kids on me, as I told a bedtime story, I was as happy as a human being could be.
Marco and Dee seem happy to see me also. Marco got his first final grade back, from English class, and got a B. He was excited about that.

As happy as I am to be here, I am already anxious to get back. When I return we will:

• Put the huge army tent up
• Start school for 100 students at our mission property on the 14th of September
• Have our first church service on September 20th at our property, and so much more.
However, while here I will rest, read, and enjoy the wonderful family God has blessed me with. (and have a few quarter pounders) tominohio
