A Fond Farewell

Jesus in Haiti Ministries
December 15th, 2008

Dear Friends,

For most of you, what I am about to tell you will come as a complete shock. There has been no attempt to hide this from anyone, just trying to be sensitive to all involved.

Marco and DeAnna and family have moved from Haiti and are now living in Cincinnati, Ohio. A month or so ago they came to this decision. It might have been sudden to me but they had been talking and praying about it for some time. As for the "why", it is for family reasons. Both kids are ready to start school and this was very difficult and unaffordable for them in Haiti. We are talking 3-4 hours of driving per day and about $300 per month, per child. Both Marco and DeAnna also want to pursue their education.

In January of 2007, the Jeanty's agreed to move back to Haiti from their home in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl and serve with the JESUS in HAITI MINISTRIES. They made a 20 month commitment to me and our board. They were here for 22 months. I thank them for honoring the promise they made to us. In the 20 months that Marco was here, here is a list of just some of his accomplishments:

The hiring of Pastor Jackie
The building of the best Worship team in Haiti
Mentoring his replacement, Roger Rood
Hiring and training our 16 person staff at Grace Emmanuel School
The stabilizing of our ministry team
Weekly work with the Good Samaritan orphanage
Mentoring, training and hiring Pierre Abbdias to work full time at the Good Samaritan orphanage
The buying of our 8 acres of land, a 15 month process
Helping plan and finishing phase one of our church building program
Being a solid example and mentor to my family of boys
Building lasting friendships in the New Road garbage dump
Helping with Americans adopting children
Hosting hundreds of YOU who visited
Being a friend, mentor and great Christian example to thousands

I could go on and on but will stop. My heart aches not having my daughter, my grand kids, my son-in-law, and my ministry partner with me but, I know God has a plan for their lives.

Marco sent me one of the most encouraging, loving letters I have ever read thanking me for all I done for him and he said I was his hero. I'm sure no hero, but the love I have for this family can't be measured. Part of my heart now resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The board of directors at JiHM thank and honor Marco and DeAnna for their faithful service to this country, these people, this ministry but most of all, to God!

These things happen in ministry. Our great loss is someone's great gain.

The awesome thing in all of this is our ministry didn't lose a beat. One thing that has always been important to Marco and I is that we replace ourselves in this ministry so it can carry on long after us. Marco did this. He will be missed, our work load will be heavier but with the help of God, we go on.

Thank you Marco, thank you DeAnna, take care of Calvin, Kaylyn and Jayden for me, as I know you will. We love you and applaud you, Heaven applauds you. poppy

If you would like either Marco or DeAnna's email, please write me and I will be glad to give it to you, I am sure they would like to hear from their friends. tominhaiti

Thank you for your support
